Bellas Landscaping's Blog: Benefit of Clay Pavers

Finding clay pavers being used in new hardscapes is rare in many modern designs outside of commercial applications. ?The reason for this is often availability and cost. ?Clay pavers are not manufactured in the numbers or location that concrete pavers and stones are being produced. ?Rarely are clay pavers ever found in hardware or home improvement stores. ?This often results in customers not being educated about the options and benefits of clay pavers. ?Clay pavers are typically superior to most other forms of pavement.

Why are clay pavers typically found at municipal and commercial locations? ?This is because of durability, strength and lower maintenance than other forms of pavement. ?Clay pavers can withstand the weight of most?vehicular?traffic?without?cracking. ?They also are very slip resistant while providing nice colors that often coordinate with a brick or stone building.

Clay pavers hold their color without sealing better than any concrete based product. ?Ultraviolet light does not fade or change the color of the brick selected. ?The need to seal clay pavers is not needed and is not?recommended, so the maintenance is even less than other patio options.

One misconception about clay pavers if that they are plain and visually boring. ?This is not true, not only are the colors more vibrant they also come in many styles and shapes. ?There are size options and pattern options, as well as wire cut, tumbled and beveled edge clay pavers. ?Often several colors and ranges can be mixed or laid out to produce nice design and visually appealing patterns. ?

Clay pavers are not the right choice for every application and do not go well with all types of?surrounding?architecture. ?However, they have been and will be around the longest and are a proven method for all types of paving including driveways, patios and walkways. ?
